The Flying Taco Mexican Grill started as an idea in 2020 when business partners, Ann and Shelby were craving a unique dining experience for their small town. Despite the lock downs across the country they put their minds together to begin working on building their dream destination. After months of planning, designing, and taco testing The Flying Taco was born and open for business in December of 2021. If you’re looking for a fun dining experience with a twist on authentic Mexican food, you’re headed to the right place! Our menu features mouthwatering tacos, an extensive cocktail & beer menu, and weekly specials to keep you coming back for more. All of our dishes are prepared in-house daily using top quality ingredients by our kitchen staff. Consistency and quality is important to us! That’s why our food is freshly sourced from multiple local vendors to ensure the highest quality ingredients are used in each dish. Looking for gluten free or vegetarian menu options? We’ve guac that too! Our open air and open kitchen concepts provide a friendly interactive experience. Each time you walk into the restaurant, you can expect to be greeted by a friendly taco team member who will guide you to your table in our dining room, second story game room, or balcony. All seating options feature scenic views overlooking the Susquehanna River. Live music, great atmosphere, lots of fun! Description: Students can expect to hear from a local entrepreneur about the what it takes to open and operate a thriving restaurant, including passion and purpose, understanding the local market, customer service and reputation, business basics, and entrepreneurship.

Mock Interview

Description: The owner of a thriving local restaurant will participate in mock interviews as available per school district's request.

Industry Tour

Description: Students will get a tour of the kitchen and dining area of the restaurant. In addition to being exposed to the tools of the trade and the flow of the business, the owner will also discuss the many facets of opening and operating a thriving restaurant in a depressed economy including passion and purpose, understanding the local market, customer service and reputation, business basics, and entrepreneurship. Students will also have the opportunity to engage with the restaurant manager, head cook, kitchen support staff, bartender, and waitstaff as part of their tour.
